Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan is a lighter version of the classic Italian-American dish, featuring crispy breaded chicken breasts topped with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella, all made easily in the air fryer.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3/4 cup breadcrumbs (Italian-style preferred)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Pound chicken breasts to even thickness and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Set up three bowls: flour in the first, beaten egg in the second, and a mix of breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, and oregano in the third.
  3. Dip chicken into flour, then egg, then breadcrumb mixture, pressing to coat.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Lightly spray air fryer basket with cooking spray. Add chicken and spray tops lightly.
  6. Air fry for 10 minutes, flip, and cook for 5 more minutes or until chicken is golden and cooked through.
  7. Top each piece with marinara and mozzarella. Air fry for another 2–3 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use panko for extra crunch if desired.
  • Serve with pasta or a side salad for a complete meal.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if needed.
