BBQ Beef Rice is a savory, protein-rich dish featuring marinated grilled beef served over rice, topped with a runny egg and finished with a smoky barbecue glaze, garnished with scallions and sesame seeds.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 pound beef sirloin or ribeye, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 scallions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate the sliced beef with soy sauce, garlic, sesame oil, and pepper for 20–30 minutes.
  2. Heat a skillet with cooking oil over high heat and sear the beef until caramelized and cooked through.
  3. In a separate pan, fry the eggs to your preferred doneness (sunny-side-up for a runny yolk).
  4. Divide the cooked rice between two bowls.
  5. Top each bowl with the seared beef and a fried egg.
  6. Drizzle with barbecue sauce.
  7. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped scallions.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use spicy barbecue sauce for added heat.
  • Serve with sautéed greens or pickled vegetables for balance.
  • Fry eggs with a lid on low heat for a runny yolk.
  • Store beef and rice separately for best reheating results.
  • Use thinly sliced chicken as an alternative to beef.
