Beef & Pea Pasta Skillet (Irish-Style) is a simple, hearty one-pan dish made with ground beef, tender pasta, sweet peas, and a creamy, savory sauce. It’s comfort food at its finest, inspired by rustic Irish home cooking.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 8 oz short pasta (penne, shells, or rotini)
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp dried parsley
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup shredded Irish cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté for 3–4 minutes until soft and fragrant.
  3. Pour in beef broth and milk, then stir in dried thyme, parsley, and pasta.
  4. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender.
  5. Stir in frozen peas and cook another 2–3 minutes until heated through.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. If using, stir in Irish cheddar cheese until melted and combined.
  8. Serve warm, optionally garnished with fresh herbs or more cheese.

Notes

  • Use ground lamb for a more traditional Irish flair.
  • Swap in whole-wheat or gluten-free pasta if preferred.
  • Great for meal prep—leftovers reheat well.
  • Add a splash of cream for extra richness.
