Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup water or beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups cooked white rice, for serving
  • Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and cornstarch. Let marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add the remaining oil to the skillet. Add bell peppers, garlic, and ginger. Stir fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  4. Return the beef to the skillet. Add water or beef broth and stir everything together. Cook for another 2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and vegetables.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve hot over steamed white rice. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

  • Slice the beef thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
  • Use a very hot pan for a proper stir fry texture.
  • Swap in broccoli, snap peas, or carrots for variety.
