Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 loaf fresh French bread or Italian loaf
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 34 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar or parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional: Crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the bread lengthwise, then cut into square portions. Arrange on the baking sheet.
  3. In a bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, and salt.
  4. Spread the garlic butter mixture generously over each bread square.
  5. Top with shredded mozzarella and optional cheddar or parmesan.
  6. Sprinkle red pepper flakes if desired.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbling.
  8. Broil for 1–2 minutes for extra golden, crispy cheese.
  9. Serve warm, garnished with more fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use fresh garlic for maximum flavor, but garlic powder works in a pinch.
  • Don’t overbake or the bread may become too hard.
  • Prep ahead and refrigerate before baking for easy entertaining.
  • Pair with marinara or ranch for dipping.
  • Great as a side for pasta, soup, or salad.
