Cheesy Texas Toast is a quick and flavorful side dish made with thick slices of bread topped with buttery garlic and melted cheese. It’s crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and perfect for pairing with pasta, soups, or breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices thick-cut white bread or Texas toast
  • 1/2 cup salted butter, softened
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 1/2 tsp garlic powder)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic.
  3. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over each slice of bread.
  4. Top each slice with shredded mozzarella and optional cheddar cheese.
  5. Place slices on a baking sheet and bake for 8–10 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Optional: Broil for the last 1–2 minutes for extra crispiness.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot.
