  • For the brownie base:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped or chips
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • For the creamy layer:
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp heavy cream or milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • For the topping/glaze:
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Optional: crushed cookies, sprinkles, or chocolate shavings

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt butter and chocolate in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and mix in sugar.
  3. Whisk in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
  4. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Stir until just combined.
  5. Spread batter in prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Let cool completely.
  6. Beat cream cheese until smooth. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and cream. Beat until light and fluffy.
  7. Spread cream mixture evenly over cooled brownies.
  8. Heat cream for the glaze until just simmering, then pour over chocolate. Let sit 1–2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
  9. Pour glaze over cream layer and spread gently. Top with desired toppings.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Add peanut butter or fruit preserves between the layers for extra flavor.
  • Use dark chocolate for a more intense ganache.
  • Slice with a warm, clean knife for neat edges.
