Rich and silky Chocolate Mousse Cups made with smooth whipped chocolate mousse, served in individual cups for an elegant and decadent dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup heavy cream (cold)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs, separated
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional toppings: whipped cream, chocolate shavings, berries

Instructions

  1. Heat heavy cream in a small saucepan until just steaming, then pour it over the chocolate and butter in a bowl. Let sit 2 minutes.
  2. Stir until smooth and fully melted; add vanilla and mix.
  3. Whisk in egg yolks until the mixture becomes glossy and thick.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites with sugar and a pinch of salt until soft peaks form.
  5. Fold the whipped egg whites gently into the chocolate mixture until fully combined.
  6. Spoon mousse into serving cups and chill for at least 2 hours.
  7. Top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or berries before serving.

Notes

  • Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor.
  • Make sure the chocolate mixture is warm—not hot—before adding egg yolks.
  • For a richer mousse, fold in extra whipped cream after cooling slightly.
  • Serve very cold for the best texture.
