Classic Banana Pudding Trifle is a nostalgic, no-bake dessert featuring layers of creamy vanilla pudding, ripe bananas, whipped topping, and buttery cookies—perfect for gatherings and family-style serving.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 (5.1 oz) box instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 cups whipped topping or homemade whipped cream
  • 45 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 box vanilla wafers or butter cookies
  • Optional: 1/2 tsp banana extract or 1 tsp vanilla bean paste
  • Optional: crushed cookies or banana slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together vanilla pudding mix, cold milk, and sweetened condensed milk until smooth. Chill until slightly thickened, about 5–10 minutes.
  2. Fold in whipped topping until mixture is light and creamy.
  3. In a trifle dish or large glass bowl, layer vanilla wafers, banana slices, and pudding mixture.
  4. Repeat the layers, finishing with a top layer of pudding.
  5. Garnish with banana slices and crushed cookies, if desired.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow flavors to meld and cookies to soften.
  7. Serve chilled, scooping through all layers for each serving.

Notes

  • Use homemade pudding or custard for a richer dessert.
  • Add cream cheese for tangy flavor and added thickness.
  • Substitute cookies with shortbread or graham crackers if preferred.
  • Caramel drizzle or chocolate shavings make delicious garnishes.
  • Layer in small jars or cups for individual servings.
