Cosmic Fudge Brownies are ultra-rich, fudgy chocolate treats topped with colorful candy-coated chocolate pieces, offering a delightful mix of gooey texture and crunch.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate, chopped
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup candy-coated chocolate pieces (e.g., M&M’s)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 °F (175 °C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang.
  2. Melt butter and chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat.
  3. Whisk in sugar, then beaten eggs and vanilla extract until glossy and combined.
  4. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gently fold until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into the pan and spread evenly. Top with candy-coated chocolates, pressing them in slightly.
  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack, then lift out and cut into squares.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter to maintain fudginess.
  • For best results, let brownies cool fully before cutting.
  • Store with a slice of bread in the container to keep moist.
  • You can substitute with other toppings like chocolate chips or caramel bits.
  • To double the recipe, use a 9×13-inch pan and adjust baking time accordingly.
