Cream Cheese-Filled Banana Bread is a moist, tender banana loaf with a rich and creamy cheesecake-style filling baked right in the center, making it a decadent twist on a classic favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 cup)
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • Cream Cheese Filling:
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix mashed bananas, melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Gradually stir dry ingredients into the banana mixture until just combined.
  4. In a medium bowl, beat softened cream cheese, sugar, egg, and flour until smooth and creamy.
  5. Pour half of the banana batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly. Carefully pour the cream cheese filling over the batter and gently spread. Top with remaining banana batter, spreading evenly.
  6. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the banana batter (not the filling) comes out clean. If the top browns too quickly, tent with foil during the last 15 minutes.
  7. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use overripe bananas for the best flavor and texture.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator due to the cream cheese filling.
  • Tastes even better the next day once the flavors have melded.
