Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine beef slices with soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and let marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Stir fry the beef for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add the remaining oil to the pan. Add bell peppers, garlic, and ginger. Stir fry for 3-4 minutes until slightly tender.
  4. Return the beef to the pan. Add beef broth or water and cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring until sauce thickens and coats the meat and vegetables.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve hot over cooked white rice and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

  • Slice beef thinly against the grain for tenderness.
  • Use a very hot pan for authentic stir fry texture.
  • You can use brown rice or noodles as an alternative to white rice.
