Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 chicken drumsticks
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tbsp flour (for thickening)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cups cooked white rice (for serving)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season chicken drumsticks with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  2. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear the drumsticks on all sides until golden; remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté the diced onion until soft, then add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Sprinkle flour over the onions and stir to coat.
  6. Pour in the chicken broth, stirring to dissolve any browned bits.
  7. Add heavy cream, sour cream, thyme, and additional seasoning as needed.
  8. Return the drumsticks to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 25–30 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
  9. Uncover and simmer 5 more minutes to thicken the sauce as desired.
  10. Serve drumsticks and creamy sauce over warm white rice, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • Bone-in drumsticks create a richer, more flavorful sauce.
  • For extra thickness, add an additional teaspoon of flour or simmer longer.
  • Use half-and-half instead of cream for a lighter version.
  • Serve with steamed vegetables or a side salad.
