12 oz pasta (penne or fettuccine)
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
Instructions
Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
Pour in the crushed tomatoes, add salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until sauce is creamy and smooth.
Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat well.
Stir in the fresh basil just before serving and garnish with extra Parmesan if desired.
Serve hot.
