Ingredients
UnitsScale
12 mozzarella cheese sticks (cut from block or string cheese)
1/2cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs, beaten
1 1/2cups Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
Marinara sauce, for serving
Instructions
Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Dip each mozzarella stick into flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. Repeat egg and breadcrumb steps for a double coating.
Place the coated cheese sticks on a tray and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the cheese sticks in batches until golden brown, about 1–2 minutes per batch.
Remove and drain on paper towels.
Serve hot with marinara sauce.
Notes
Freezing is crucial to prevent cheese from leaking during frying.
Double coating enhances the crunch and helps sealing.
