Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken combines golden, crunchy chicken pieces coated in a sticky, sweet-savory honey garlic glaze. This dish offers a delightful contrast of textures and flavors, making it perfect for family dinners, gatherings, or a quick treat on busy nights.

Ingredients

  • Chicken breast or thighs, cut into strips
  • All-purpose flour
  • Cornstarch
  • Eggs, beaten
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic, minced
  • Honey
  • Soy sauce
  • Rice vinegar or lemon juice (optional, for balance)
  • Olive oil or vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, season flour and cornstarch with salt and pepper.
  2. Dredge chicken strips in the flour mixture, dip in beaten egg, then coat again in the flour mixture.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken pieces until golden brown and crispy on all sides. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. In a separate small pan, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and rice vinegar or lemon juice. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Toss fried chicken pieces in the honey garlic sauce until well coated.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • Spicy twist: Add red pepper flakes or a drizzle of sriracha to the sauce for extra heat.
  • Gluten-free: Use cornstarch only or a gluten-free flour blend for coating, and tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • Baked version: Bake chicken strips at 400°F for 15-20 minutes until crispy, then toss in sauce.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in an oven at 350°F to restore crispiness.
  • To keep the chicken crispy, toss in the sauce just before serving or serve the sauce on the side for dipping.
