Easy Creamy Garlic Butter Spaghetti is a fast, comforting pasta dish featuring a rich, velvety garlic-infused cream sauce. It’s perfect for weeknights and made with simple pantry ingredients.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • 4 tbsp salted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Optional: 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes or a pinch of ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1–2 minutes.
  3. Reduce heat to low and stir in heavy cream. Simmer gently for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Add grated Parmesan cheese and stir until melted and smooth.
  5. Toss in the cooked spaghetti, adding reserved pasta water as needed to thin the sauce to desired consistency.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Optional: Add red pepper flakes or a pinch of nutmeg.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot with extra Parmesan if desired.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best melt and flavor.
  • Add grilled chicken, shrimp, or sautéed vegetables for variation.
  • Reheat gently with a splash of milk or cream to loosen the sauce.
  • Best served immediately as cream sauces don’t freeze well.
  • Use gluten-free pasta for a gluten-free version.
