Fudgy Chocolate Brownies are rich, dense, and irresistibly chocolaty treats with a crackly top and gooey center — perfect for chocolate lovers and easy to make from scratch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped or chips
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts, chocolate chips, or sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter and chocolate over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Whisk in granulated sugar and brown sugar until combined.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Fold gently with a spatula until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top. Sprinkle with optional toppings if desired.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).
  8. Let cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • For extra fudginess, slightly underbake and cool completely before cutting.
  • Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor and texture.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
  • Add espresso powder to intensify the chocolate flavor.
