A succulent, zesty, and beautifully caramelized chicken dish combining savory, sweet, and citrusy flavors, ideal for both weeknight dinners and special occasions.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth or water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Lemon slices (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken breasts dry with a paper towel. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and dried herbs.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté briefly until fragrant.
  4. Stir in honey, lemon juice, lemon zest, and chicken broth. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until the sauce begins to reduce slightly.
  5. Return the chicken to the skillet. Spoon the glaze over each piece and simmer for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the chicken to soak up the flavor.
  6. Sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley and add lemon slices for garnish before serving.

Notes

  • Add red pepper flakes or hot sauce for a spicier version.
  • Use fresh thyme, rosemary, or tarragon for an aromatic herb upgrade.
  • Can be made on the grill after marinating in glaze ingredients.
  • Mix lemon with orange or lime juice for a complex citrus twist.
  • Store in the refrigerator up to 4 days or freeze for 2 months.
