This Herb and Garlic Olive Oil Dip is a flavorful and aromatic appetizer made with infused olive oil, fresh herbs, and garlic, perfect for dipping warm, crusty bread rounds.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (optional)
  • 1 loaf French baguette or Italian bread, sliced into rounds

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, thyme, red pepper flakes, sea salt, and black pepper.
  2. Stir well and let the mixture sit for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.
  3. If using balsamic vinegar, drizzle it over the oil mixture just before serving.
  4. Meanwhile, lightly toast the bread rounds in the oven or on a grill until golden and crisp.
  5. Serve the herb and garlic olive oil dip in a shallow dish with the warm bread rounds on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • Use fresh herbs when available for enhanced flavor.
  • Let the dip sit longer (up to a few hours) for deeper infusion.
  • Add grated Parmesan or crushed olives for variation.
  • Can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
