Ingredients

Scale
  • Meatballs:
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 12 tbsp oil for frying
  • Orange Sauce:
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp water (for slurry)
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, parsley, dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Shape into small meatballs.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown meatballs on all sides.
  4. Whisk together orange juice, soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, and orange zest.
  5. Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet and bring to a simmer.
  6. Mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry, then stir into the sauce.
  7. Simmer for 8–10 minutes until meatballs are fully cooked and sauce thickens.
  8. Serve warm as an appetizer or over rice/noodles.

Notes

  • Add more orange zest or concentrate for stronger citrus flavor.
  • Use turkey for a lighter version.
  • Adjust sauce thickness by altering the cornstarch slurry.
  • Add chili flakes for heat.
