- Ground turkey (dark and light mix if preferred)
- Salt and pepper
- Garlic powder
- Onion, finely chopped
- Fresh parsley, thyme, or oregano
- Breadcrumbs or oat flour
- Egg (binder)
- Olive oil for cooking
- In a bowl, combine turkey, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion, herbs, breadcrumbs, and egg. Mix lightly until combined.
- Shape into patties of desired size.
- Heat oil in skillet over medium heat. Cook patties 5–6 minutes per side until golden and internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Remove from heat, let rest 2 minutes, then serve as desired.
Notes
- To prevent drying out, include onion and herbs, avoid over-handling the meat, and cook gently over medium heat.
- If you prefer grilling, brush patties with oil and grill over medium heat for about 5 minutes per side.
- Uncooked patties can be frozen—shape and freeze individually with parchment in between.
- For gluten-free options, use GF breadcrumbs or oat flour for the binder.
- For added flavor, you can spice them up with cumin, smoked paprika, or chili flakes.
- Serve on whole-grain buns, lettuce wraps, or pita for different presentation options.
- Tzatziki, honey mustard, or garlic aioli make excellent dipping sauces to complement the herb flavor.
- For a turkey meatloaf variation, mix the turkey mixture into a loaf pan and bake at 350°F for 45–55 minutes until cooked through.
