The Mushroom Swiss Cheeseburger combines juicy beef patties, sautéed mushrooms, and melted Swiss cheese for a rich, savory sandwich that’s easy to make and full of flavor.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 8 oz sliced mushrooms (cremini or button)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Optional: mayo, lettuce, onions

Instructions

  1. Form ground beef into 4 equal patties. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add mushrooms and cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and cook for another 1–2 minutes. Set aside.
  3. Grill or pan-fry the burger patties over medium-high heat until desired doneness, about 4–5 minutes per side.
  4. During the last minute of cooking, place Swiss cheese slices on top of each patty and cover to melt.
  5. Toast buns if desired. Assemble burgers by placing patties on the buns, topping with sautéed mushrooms, and adding optional toppings like mayo, lettuce, or onions.

Notes

  • Don’t press the patties while cooking to retain juiciness.
  • Use a thumbprint in the center of the patty to prevent shrinking.
  • Stack cheese and mushrooms on hot patties for best melt and cohesion.
  • Sauté mushrooms ahead for quick assembly.
  • Use brioche buns for a rich, bakery-style finish.
