Penne Pasta with Beef is a hearty, comforting dish featuring tender beef in a robust tomato-based sauce tossed with penne pasta and finished with Parmesan and fresh parsley.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 1 lb ground beef or thinly sliced beef strips
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated (for serving)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook penne pasta in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add beef and cook until browned, breaking up clumps if using ground beef. Drain excess fat if needed.
  4. Add onion and garlic; sauté until softened and fragrant.
  5. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper.
  6. Simmer the sauce for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Add cooked penne to the sauce and toss to combine.
  8. Serve hot topped with Parmesan and parsley.

Notes
