- 4 pork sausages
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme (optional)
- 1/4 cup water or broth
- Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sausages and cook until browned on all sides, about 8–10 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- Add the sliced onions to the same skillet and season with salt, pepper, and thyme.
- Cook the onions, stirring occasionally, until softened and caramelized, about 10–12 minutes.
- Return the sausages to the skillet and add the water or broth.
- Cover and simmer for 10 minutes until sausages are fully cooked and flavors combine.
- Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty bread.
Notes
- Use chicken or turkey sausages for a lighter version.
- Add a splash of balsamic vinegar for sweeter, deeper onion flavor.
- Great served over creamy mashed potatoes.
