Slow Cooker Cinnamon Apple Butter is a smooth, spiced spread made from slow-cooked apples, cinnamon, and a touch of sugar—perfect for spreading on toast, pancakes, or using in baked goods.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 6 lbs apples (about 12-14 medium), peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Place chopped apples in a large slow cooker.
  2. Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Stir to coat the apples evenly.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 10 hours, stirring occasionally, until the apples are very soft and dark brown.
  4. Use an immersion blender to puree the mixture in the slow cooker until smooth (or transfer to a blender in batches).
  5. Stir in vanilla extract and continue cooking uncovered for 1–2 more hours, stirring occasionally, until thickened to desired consistency.
  6. Let cool, then transfer to jars or containers and store in the fridge for up to 3 weeks or freeze for longer storage.

Notes

  • Use a mix of sweet and tart apples (e.g., Fuji, Gala, Granny Smith) for best flavor.
  • No need to add liquid—the apples release enough moisture as they cook.
  • For a deeper flavor, add a splash of apple cider or lemon juice during cooking.
