3 1/2cups all-purpose flour
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp salt
1cup warm milk (about 110°F)
1/4cup unsalted butter, melted (plus more for brushing)
1 large egg
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp chopped fresh herbs (parsley, rosemary, thyme, or a mix)
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
Add melted butter, egg, salt, and half of the flour. Mix until combined.
Gradually add remaining flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. Shape each into a ball.
Place balls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise again until doubled, about 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake rolls for 18–20 minutes or until golden brown.
While still warm, brush tops with melted butter mixed with minced garlic and chopped herbs.
Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
Add shredded cheese to the dough for cheesy rolls.
Incorporate chopped jalapeños for a spicy version.
Substitute half the flour with whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
Reheat in oven at 350°F for 5–10 minutes or microwave for 15–20 seconds.
