Tender, juicy chicken thighs baked in a sweet and savory sticky honey garlic sauce, delivering bold flavor with minimal effort. A perfect main dish for busy weeknights or weekend meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 1 tablespoon water (optional, for slurry)
  • Chopped green onions or sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line with foil.
  2. Pat chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken thighs skin-side down for 3–4 minutes until golden. Flip and sear the other side for 2 minutes. Transfer to prepared baking dish.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, garlic, and apple cider vinegar.
  5. Pour the sauce over the chicken thighs in the baking dish.
  6. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is crispy and golden, basting with sauce once or twice.
  7. If desired, thicken sauce: remove chicken and pour sauce into a small saucepan. Mix cornstarch and water into a slurry, stir into the sauce, and simmer until thickened.
  8. Serve chicken with extra sauce spooned over the top and garnish with green onions or sesame seeds if using.

Notes

  • Boneless, skinless thighs can be used, but reduce bake time to 25–30 minutes.
  • Marinate chicken in the sauce for up to 2 hours for deeper flavor.
  • Serve with rice, noodles, or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to control salt content.
