The Ultimate Grilled Cheese Melt is the perfect blend of golden, crispy bread and gooey, melted cheese. This classic comfort food is elevated with a buttery crust and a rich cheese pull in every bite, ideal for a quick lunch or cozy dinner.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread (sourdough, white, or your favorite)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice. Optionally, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on the inside of each slice for extra richness.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the shredded cheddar and mozzarella.
  4. Place two slices of bread, buttered side down, onto the skillet. Top each with half the cheese mixture, then place the other bread slices on top, buttered side up.
  5. Grill for 3–4 minutes on each side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted and gooey.
  6. Remove from skillet, let rest for 1 minute, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use a lid to trap heat and help the cheese melt faster.
  • Try different cheese combinations like gouda, gruyère, or pepper jack.
  • For extra crisp, sprinkle grated Parmesan on the buttered sides before grilling.
  • Pairs perfectly with tomato soup or a green salad.
